Three members of a British family have drowned in a swimming pool at a Spanish resort, local authorities said.
They were on holiday in the Spanish coastal town when the bodies of a father and two children were found in the swimming pool of the La Costa Wald club near Fuengirola on Christmas Eve.
The family’s 9-year-old daughter first got into trouble in the swimming pool when her brother and father jumped in to save her, but all three were killed, sources said.
The government of Andalusia, on Spain’s southern coast, said on Twitter that police were called to the scene in the afternoon, and three bodies were found. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are believed to have been informed by the deceased’s mother, who is now questioning the woman.
Club La Costa World Resorts extends its condolences to the family in this tragic incident and is cooperating fully with the investigation into the death.
