Bangladesh Film Artists Association has suspended the membership of actress Pori Moni. The decision was announced at a press conference on Saturday (August 7th). The leaders said the action was taken against Pori for tarnishing the image of the film’s artist and their organization.
At the press conference, Misha Sawdagor, president of the Artists’ Association, said, “The Pori Moni incident is an embarrassment for our film and artist community. We do not condone any wrongdoing. The case of Pori is ongoing. It is not right to comment on this. We, therefore, suspended the membership of Pori Moni. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting today. The views of all members have been taken into a ccount.
Apart from Misha Sawdagor, general secretary of the association Zayed Khan, vice-president Dipjol, and Rubel were also present at the time. Also present were Aruna Biswas, Anjana Sultana, Alexander Bow, Jacky Alamgir and Ali Raj of the executive committee.
It is to be mentioned that on the afternoon of 4th August, RAB conducted a raid on the house of Pori Moni. At that time he was arrested with a huge amount of drugs. Later, the police filed a case against Pari under the Narcotics Act. After being taken to court, he has been remanded for 4 days. Besides, his case has been handed over to CID
