Two more Bangladeshis who were going to perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia have died.
A man named Tapan Khandaker, 61, of Dhaka, died on Friday, the IT help desk of the religion ministry said. Rafiqul Islam, 47, of Sirajganj, died on Thursday.
The ministry said 10 people died while performing Hajj this year. Among the dead Bangladeshis were seven men and three women. Eight of them died in Mecca and two in Medina.
After two years of coronavirus control, Bangladeshis have the opportunity to perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
This year, 4,115 people from Bangladesh are getting the opportunity to perform Hajj and 55,885 people are getting the opportunity to perform Hajj privately.
Since the start of Hajj flight from Bangladesh on June 5, 50 thousand 218 Hajj-passengers have reached Saudi Arabia so far. Of them, 3,385 went for Hajj under government management and 46,833 under private management.
So far, a total of 139 flights have been operated from Bangladesh with Hajj pilgrims. Of these, 8 flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, 53 flights of Saudi Airlines and 9 flights of Flynus Airlines have been operated.
Hajj will be held in Saudi Arabia on July 8. The last Hajj flight from Bangladesh will be operated on July 3.
The return flight of pilgrims will start on July 14. The last return flight with Bangladeshis is on 4th August.
