Earlier in the day, RAB launched a raid on Russel’s house in Mohammadpur. After the arrest, Russel and his wife are being taken to the RAB headquarters. A customer named Arif Baker was arrested at Gulshan police station late on Wednesday night on charges of cheating and embezzling money. Russell and his wife filed a lawsuit against Chairman Shamima Nasrin.
Citing the statement, Gulshan police said that customer Arif Baker and his friends were attracted to Evaly’s dazzling advertisement and ordered some products from the company. From May 29 to June 16, Aref Buck paid Rs 3 lakh 10 thousand 597 through online banking and a bank card for the price of the product at different times. The company promised a full refund if the product failed to deliver within 7 to 45 days. Last September 5 failed to get the product by contacting the customer service branch (custom care center) of Evaly. Every time they have been contacted before, they have been saying that they are giving.
The case alleges that on September 9, three people, including Baker, went to Evaly’s office on Dhanmondi Road No. 14 and tried to meet Russell, the company’s executive officer, but were stopped. Later, when Buck’s friends went to talk to the representatives at Evaly’s office about the product, they shouted.
At one point, from inside the office, Evaly’s CEO Russel intimidated him and refused to pay them. At one point he threatened to kill them. The chairman of Evaly then appeared there and refused to return the goods or money. He also abused them with threats and intimidation.
According to the plaintiff in the case, it has been reported in various media and social media that Evaly has embezzled Rs 700-800 crore from many customers like him under the guise of selling various products.
