Kingsway Hospital authorities yesterday issued a medical bulletin describing Captain Noushad’s physical condition. It said, ‘Pilot Noushad fainted and his cardiac arrest occurred while flying. The patient was then brought to the emergency department of Kingsway Hospital. The patient was not responding at the time, was completely unconscious. Such patients are given ventilation according to medical protocol. He was sent to SICU and kept on ventilation.
Captain Noushad Qayyum is under Subharjit Dasgupta, Director of Medical Services, Kingsway Hospital, Ranjan Barokar, Critical Care Physician, and Birendra Belekar.

Last Friday morning, Captain Qayyum fell ill while on a BG-022 flight from Muscat, Oman to Dhaka. Later, the plane was in Nagpur, Maharashtra. An emergency landing was made at Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport. As soon as he fell ill in the sky, Captain Qayyum requested the Kolkata Air Traffic Control to make an emergency landing. At the same time, he handed over control of the aircraft to the co-pilot.
When the Kolkata Air Traffic Control ordered the plane to land at its nearest Nagpur airport, the co-pilot landed the plane. The Boeing 737-800 had 124 passengers. In addition to the passengers, there were six crew members and a co-pilot on the flight. They were all safe. An eight-member rescue team flew to Nagpur on another flight on Friday. After midnight, the plane was brought to Dhaka airport with Passengers.
