Nine years after its establishment, Cyber 71, a local organization of ethical hackers, has entered its tenth year. Cyber 71 was established on March 8, 2012 with the slogan ‘We Hack to Protect Bangladesh’. At the same time, more than 2 million members have joined the platform on social media Facebook.
Abdullah Al Jaber, director of Cyber 71, told banglanews, “We started working to make Bangladesh a safe cyberspace.” Now we involve ourselves in almost all kinds of social work. For this our slogan has also changed. Our slogan now is – ‘We work to protect Bangladesh’.
Referring to the beginning of their journey, Jaber said, “Since the time of Felani’s assassination, we have been spreading our protest in cyberspace.” Cyber 71 represented Bangladesh, along with all the hackers in the world, protesting against Israel’s barbaric attack on the Palestinians, not just Bangladesh. On the Rohingya issue, I conducted the worst cyber attack in Myanmar’s cyberspace in their memory. We were as sincere for the country as we were for the enemy. After waking up night after night, all the members of the team recovered various hacked domestic websites. I want to give you the gift of a secure cyberspace just to keep trying to help or solve numerous problems.
In the context of Bangladesh, the confidence of the general public towards ethical hackers is increasing day by day, the people associated with Cyber 71 think. Abdullah al-Jaber said hackers meant a negative attitude. Today, secure cyberspace has become the demand of the time. The negative attitude you used to have towards hackers in your love has now become the attitude of necessity. Ethical Hacker is now one of the most important posts in the corporate sector of Bangladesh. With this knowledge, everyone applauds now, hackers’ identities are no longer in crisis like before.
Cyber 71 aims to work on a larger scale to increase the practice of ethical hacking in the country in the future
