According to an earlier announcement, the district administration has started eviction of high-risk installations at Lake No. 1 of Akbar Shah Police Station in Chittagong. The eviction drive began around 12 noon on Sunday (June 19).
In this regard, the Assistant Commissioner (Land) of the city Mohammad Mominur Rahman said, “We are continuing our campaign to remove the risky installations in the hills.” All the illegal installations in lake area number one are being disconnected and removed.
On Saturday, the deputy commissioner said thousands of people lived in dangerous places in the Akbar Shah area. Evictions are carried out every year, then they come here again and start settling. We have identified the hazardous settlements by inspecting the vicinity of the accident-affected area.
“This time we have asked the local councilor not to allow anyone to resettle in the area after the eviction,” he said. You will confirm that arrangement. So that no one can settle in the risky place anymore.
Four people were killed and six others were injured in a landslide at Akbar Shah Police Station in Chittagong on Friday night.
Earlier on Saturday, Chittagong announced the eviction of 120 high-risk installations. In this context, the operation is being conducted today. During the campaign, all the risky installations in the hills will be removed in phases.
