The acclaimed Bangladeshi filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and his wife Nusrat Imrose Tisha, who is also a popular actress, have teamed up for a film that is loosely based on their own experiences. The film, titled Something Like an Autobiography, marks Farooki’s debut as an actor on the big screen.
Farooki shared the news of the film on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, saying that he had been working in the film industry for 25 years and had experimented with different genres and styles of storytelling, but acting was something he had never tried before. He said that he and Tisha had co-written the script of the film and decided to play the lead roles themselves.
The film is a part of a series called Ministry of Love, which has been produced by Chorki, an OTT platform that Farooki co-founded with Redoan Rony, who is also the producer of the film. The film is directed by Farooki himself.
The first look of the film was released on Chorki’s Facebook page on the same day, showing Farooki and Tisha in a candid pose. The film is described as “a story of two people who are in love but not together”.
The film has also been selected to compete at the KIM Jiseok section of the upcoming 28th Busan International Film Festival, which is one of the most prestigious film festivals in Asia. The festival will take place from October 4 to October 13 at the Busan Cinema Center in Busan, South Korea.
Farooki is known for his critically acclaimed films such as Television, Ant Story, No Bed of Roses, and Saturday Afternoon. Tisha has acted in several of his films as well as other popular Bangladeshi films and dramas. The couple got married in 2010 and have a daughter named Arshiya.
