The Department of Information Technology has undertaken four new projects for the training of youth, employment and development of the IT sector.
Huawei has been involved in these projects with the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) and the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority (BHTPA).
The parties signed a memorandum of understanding at a function at the BCC auditorium in Agargaon on Thursday.
Under the agreement, four projects called Bangladesh ICT Competition-2020, ICT Joint Innovation Center, Huawei ICT Academy and Curing Bangladeshi Startups will be launched soon for students, researchers, universities, developers, startups and stakeholdersSpeaking as the chief guest on the occasion, State Minister for Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said all the current initiatives and projects are youth, ICT and employment dependent. This agreement will enable young students, researchers and innovators at the university level to be properly trained. At the same time, it will create an opportunity to experience the latest technologies invented by Huawei.
‘This agreement will also be able to bridge the gap between industry and academia.Secondly, some universities have a special academy where teachers and students will have the opportunity to connect the university with many institutions and will also have the opportunity to receive their financial support, ”he said.
Zhang Zhengjun, CEO of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited, said that in modern times, there must be a digital structure for any industry in any country. Therefore, it has become inevitable for the youth to have skills in the ICT sector to ensure the growth of the country by adapting to the new and changing times. Huawei’s initiative will encourage the youth of Bangladesh to increase their skills in the ICT sector.
Hosne Ara Begum, Managing Director, BHTP, said that in order to truly become a digital country, there must be connectivity between all sectors related to the ICT and communication industries. We have to work together for the growth of the country and to be ready for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Parthapratim Dev, executive director of the Bangladesh Computer Council, said the agreement would help strengthen the country’s position in establishing startup ecosystems and reap the benefits of Chinese technology.
