Mobile and land phone network systems have been improved in flood-prone areas due to the tireless work of the operators and the amount of water in the flood-affected areas has started to decrease a bit, and the inactive sites of the operators are gradually coming into operation. At present 703 out of 2528 sites in Sylhet, Sunamganj, and Netrokona are out of network. However, 984 non-performing site operators have already been activated with the overall efforts. Work is underway to speed up the remaining non-performing sites.

Among the NTTN operators in flood-hit Sylhet, Sunamganj, and Netrokona districts, 57 points of Fiber at Home and 29 points of Bahon are all operational. The point of Sunamganj of fiber at Home was inactive till yesterday, but today the company has been able to keep the point in motion.
Among NTTN operators, Summit Communications Limited has a total of 262 Points of Presence (PoP), of which 137 are active. Many sites in the flood-prone areas were cut off due to power outages, temporarily hampering access to NTTN connections in those areas. But now all NTTNs are able to provide uninterrupted connections.
At present, the telecommunication system is closed in Gowainghat Upazila of Sylhet due to a lack of electricity. Telecommunications have been cut off due to optical fiber damage due to floods in Zakiganj and Kanaighat. Apart from these Upazilas, BTCL has a telecommunication system in other Upazilas of the Sylhet district. The telecommunication system of Habiganj district has been activated by activating a damaged Upazila, Nabiganj. All the Upazilas except Juri Upazila of moulvi Bazar district have telecommunication systems.
20 June 2022 in collaboration with Bangladesh Army. A team of BTCL has been able to activate the internet connection with the launch of BTCL’s voice service using Portable Generator. The BTCL team is working tirelessly to activate voice/data services in other Upazilas of the Sunamganj district.
A total of 105 ISP operators of different categories have been providing services in other areas of the Sylhet division including Sylhet, Sunamganj, and Netrokona. ISP operators in the areas have 375 Points of Presence (PoP). Currently, 339 out of 375 PoPs are operational and 36 PoPs are ineffective due to the current flood situation. All PoPs that are going to be accessed is being serviced with PoP portable generators.
Sylhet 23 VSATs have been handed over to the local administration. Of these, 1 has been introduced in the office of Sylhet Divisional Commissioner, 1 in the office of Sylhet DC, and 1 in the office of DC Sadar Upazila.
Meanwhile, Banglalink has taken steps to provide free 10 minutes and 100 MB packages to its customers in case of emergency and the package will be launched from 12.00 pm on Tuesday. TeleTalk has also announced a free 15 minutes, 20 SMS, and a package of 500 MB for flood victims in the Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions
