In 2003, the film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ created history at the box office. The movie starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel had set records back then. After 20 years, the new sequel ‘Gadar 2’ was released on August 11th. This movie made about the 1971 Crash India Movement, is a return to history.
Even before the announcement of the making of ‘Gadar 2,’ the excitement among the audience was not subdued. The teaser and trailer increased that excitement further.
According to a report in The Times of India, on the first day of its release, ‘Gadar 2’ earned 40 crore rupees. And on the second day, it increased to 47.3 crore rupees. This means that in the first two days, the film’s earnings were 87.3 crore rupees for Sunny Deol. By the end of the week, it might cross the 120-crore mark.
On the same day, ‘Oh My God 2’ was also released along with Gadar. The earnings of Akshay’s film in two days were slightly more than 19 crore rupees.
‘Gadar 2’ has been made against the backdrop of the India-Pakistan war of 1971, during the Crash India Movement. This sequel also involves Tara and Sakina. Due to the love affair with a Pakistani soldier, their only son, Jittu, wins in the enemy’s land, named Charanjeet. They bring back their son, carrying him in the arms of his mother, Singha, to their neighboring country. In the previous sequel, they brought back their daughter. This time, it’s their son. Apart from Sunny and Ameesha, ‘Gadar 2’ also features performances by Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa, and others.
