Kartik Aaryan, who is celebrating his birthday today, has a special gift for his fans. The actor has signed a new film with Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor, which will be an epic war drama set to release on Independence Day 2025.
The film, which is yet to be titled, will be directed by Sandeep Modi, who has previously helmed the critically acclaimed web series The Night Manager. The film will be a co-production between Dharma Productions and Balaji Telefilms, two of the biggest banners in Bollywood.
This is the first time that Kartik Aaryan will be collaborating with Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor, after the much-publicized fallout between the actor and the filmmaker over Dostana 2. The film, which was supposed to star Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya, was shelved due to creative differences between the actor and the director.
However, according to a source close to the project, Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar have sorted out their issues and decided to work together again. “Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan amicably resolved their previous hiccup. Now, putting the past behind them, Kartik is set to do a Dharma Productions film which is in co-collaboration with Balaji Telefilms. It is an epic war drama which will portray Kartik in a different light,” the source said.
The source also revealed that the film will be a patriotic saga that will showcase Kartik Aaryan’s versatility as an actor. “The film will be a tribute to the brave soldiers who fought for the country. Kartik Aaryan will play a pivotal role in the film, which will require him to undergo rigorous training and preparation. He is very excited to be a part of this project, which will be a career-defining film for him,” the source added.
The film is currently in the pre-production stage and the casting for the female lead and other characters is underway. The film is expected to go on floors next year and will be shot in various locations across India and abroad. The film will hit the theatres on 15th August 2025, marking the 79th anniversary of India’s independence.
