A written complaint has been lodged with the Sonargaon police station in Narayanganj against local BCL and Juba League leaders for harassing Hefazat-e-Islam central joint secretary general Mamunul Haque. Mufti Faisal Mahmud Habibi, joint-secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam’s Dhaka metropolitan branch’s zone 10, filed the complaint on behalf of Mamunul Haque on Sunday (April 4).
Plaintiff Faisal mentioned in his complaint that on April 3, Mamunul Haque, the joint secretary general of Hifazat, took a stay at the Sastrik Hotel at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj. He was staying there following the complete rules and regulations of the hotel. However, the manager and employees of hotel owner Saidur Rahman failed to provide security to Mamunul Haque.
The allegation further mentions that Sonargaon Upazila Juba League president Rafiqul Islam Nannu and former district BCL vice president Haji Shah Mohammad. Led by Sohag Rony, some terrorists and unknown people from the area went to the resort and attacked Mamunul Haque. He tore his clothes and physically assaulted her. Plaintiff Faisal Mahmud Habibi also alleged that Mamunul Haque was snatched from his car key and wallet by using obscene and vulgar language.
Sonargaon Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam told Time News that the complaint has been accepted. After investigation, legal action will be taken.
