Custom House, Chattogram Airport, and Airfreight Unit have seized 1,002 Gillette brand Razor from Chattogram’s Shah Amanat International Airport. Attempts were made to evade more than Rs 3 lakh in revenue.
The razors were seized after searching the luggage of Sultan Ahmed, a passenger on a SpiceJet Airlines flight from Kolkata.
Chattogram Custom House Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin Rizvi confirmed the matter on Monday (May 2).
He said the SpiceJet Airlines flight SG-73 landed on Monday afternoon. Scanning the luggage of Sultan Ahmed, the passenger of the flight, 1002 razors of Gillette brand were seized while especially hidden in the cartoon. Because this product is not importable. Through this, the government was trying to evade about 3 lakh rupees of revenue. But due to the warnings of the customs authorities, it has been possible to stop this malpractice.
He said the seized goods were confiscated in accordance with the Customs Act 1969 and the prevailing laws and regulations.
