Drive-in movie shows are a particularly popular medium in the Western world. The movie is shown through screen sharing in a huge field where everyone sits in the car and watches the movie. Although Drive in Movie Show has movies in different languages of different countries of the world, Bengali movies have never been screened.
This is the first time that Bengali cinema is going to be screened in this new medium. BDM-Bangla Drive in Movies, a new Bangla movie screening company, is making its debut with the movie ‘Poramon 2’. The show will air on August 8 at 6:30 pm Sydney time at the Fairfield Show-Ground in Sydney, Australia.
BDM’s three founders Waheed Siddiqui, Akash Ahsan and Dipankar Dipan made the announcement at an online press conference on the afternoon of July 27. Film director Raihan Rafi, Dipankar Dipan, actor Siam Ahmed, actress Pooja Cheri, Imran Mahmudul and others spoke there.
Dedicated to the memory of immortal hero Salman Shah, the rural background movie ‘Poramon 2’ has been made. The founders of BDM said that a video presentation on the opening day of the Bengali cinema will pay homage to the memory of Salman Shah and highlight the glorious history of Bengali cinema.
They said that tickets for this show will be sold through Crazy Tickets. .A car can enter on a ticket.
Dipankar Dipan, one of the founders of BDM, said, “I have always worked for the promotion of Bengali cinema, whether it is my film or not.” I was involved in the screening of Devi and Poramon 2 movies in the Middle East. .I wanted to help with everything in this new journey of Bengali cinema, because I found the idea very fancy and very timely at the time of Corona.
Waheed Siddiqui, one of the founders of BDM, said, “Even though the drive-in-show idea came to our mind 4/5 years ago, we started working in full force from March this year.” We contacted Fairfield Council on March 17 this year. May 25 finalize the venue and time. Contact the organizers of the June 15 drive-in show. I applied to rent the venue on July 6 and paid the fee on July 10 and bought the domain of our website. After ensuring the security and good projection of the photo, we fixed the time on 8th August.
Another BDM partner Akash Ahsan said, “Drive-in movie shows are my favorite as the 2nd generation in Australia. .Looking at the pictures in different languages of different countries in the drive-in show, it seemed as if we could see any movie in our mother tongue Bengali here. That dream is being fulfilled today with Waid Siddiqui Bhai and Dipankar Dipan Dada.
Incidentally, Siam Ahmed and Pooja Cheri teamed up in the movie ‘Poramon 2’ released in 2016. Directed by Raihan Rafi and produced by Jazz Multimedia, the film became very popular.
