A ninth-grade student of Satbaria Girls High School in Sujanagar Upazila of Pabna has been accused of publicly beating and injuring a teenager named Fahad Mollah (17). Teachers and students of the school have staged a human chain and protest demanding his arrest in the incident.
On Thursday (May 19) at noon, thousands of students from the school took part in a protest and human chain on Satbaria College Road.
Earlier on Wednesday (May 18) at around 4 pm, the girl was beaten with a hammer in front of Satbaria College on her way home from school. Alauddin, the headmaster of the school, has filed a case against the accused Fahad Mollah at Sujanagar police station.

The schoolgirl, who was being treated at the hospital, said Fahad Mollah often teased her with love proposals. Fahad Mollah was furious at the rejection of the love proposal. Fahad Mollah stopped her in front of Satbaria College on her way home with her girlfriends after the school holidays on Wednesday and offered her love again. As he did not respond to this, he was dragged and beaten with a hammer and beaten in different parts of the body. At that time, the school teachers and local people came forward and rescued him and admitted him to Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex.
Medical Officer of Sujanagar Upazila Health Complex Dr. Farzana Akhter said that the schoolgirl was admitted to the hospital for treatment as the injury was serious.
Sujanagar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Hannan said that the police have launched an operation to arrest the accused Fahad Mollah soon after the case was registered.
