Mashrafe bin Mortuza, who suffered a hamstring injury, will not have a name. It was already known in the player draft of Bangabandhu T20 Cup. In a press release today (November 11), Mashrafe’s name was not included in the list of players given by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, chief selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu also sees the possibility of this most successful captain of the country playing in the middle of the tournament.
BCB has taken fitness tests of 113 cricketers ahead of the tournament. Where only the cricketers playing in the BCB President’s Cup and the cricketers of the High Performance (HP) unit did not have to pay this test of fitness. After overcoming the ban, Shakib Al Hasan also easily crossed the bench mark with the fitness test.
But Mashrafe, who has been out of the field for a long time, did not take the fitness test due to injury, nor is his name in the player draft. As a result, his participation in the tournament is uncertain, but chief selector Minhazul Abedin Nannu said the experienced fast bowler could be seen on the field very soon. The chief selector has also shown the way how Mashrafe can take part in the tournament.
In a video message today (November 11), Nannu said, “I have an idea about Mashrafe. He has a hamstring injury. Hopefully he will be available in the first week of December. Then any team can give it to him if he wants. And I hope to come back to the game very soon. If more than one team wants him, a lottery will be held and if only one team wants, he can play directly in that team. ‘
All the activities of the five-team tournament, which will be held on the field at the end of this month, are nearing completion. The teams will also be finalized tomorrow (November 12) at the end of the player draft. The chief selector is satisfied with the fitness tests of the cricketers considered for the draft. Where young people as well as veterans have shown surprises. Abdur Razzak, Mohammad Ashraful, Shahriar Nafis easily touched the bench mark.
In this context, Nannu said, “Today we have completed the fitness test. Everyone I named in the draft has taken a fitness test. And the fitness standards of some players have gone too bad. They have been dropped in the draft. Almost 98% of the players are but to a good standard that we benchmarked them. ‘
Shakib Al Hasan, who took the fitness test on the last day, also effortlessly exceeded the set criteria.
Talking about Shakib Al Hasan’s fitness, the chief selector of the national team said, “Our trainers are quite satisfied with his (Shakib’s) fitness. So I hope that the players will continue to be in this progress in fitness, everyone’s performance will improve significantly. ‘
