TikTok is very popular among young people because of the ease of creating and sharing short videos. Even underage users use TikTok late at night, ignoring their parents’ watchful eyes. This is not unknown to TikTok. Therefore, the Chinese video-sharing social media has introduced a new feature called Screen Time and Family Pairing to allow users under 18 years of age to use TikTok for only one hour a day.
Today, on Wednesday, TikTok announced that a new feature will be built into the Screen Time option within the next few weeks. With this feature, parents can set a default one-hour screen time for their underage children. So, when users use TikTok for an hour, TikTok will send them a message that their time is up. Not only that, but TikTok will also send a code for extra 30 minutes of usage. For users under 13 years old, parents will be sent the code. As a result, parents can allow their children to use TikTok for extra time by entering the code.
