A child named Manvi died after eating her birthday cake in Punjab, India. India’s media NDTV reported in a report on Saturday (March 30) that the incident happened last week.
All family members including the child’s elder sister fell ill after eating the cake ordered online. The cake is brought from a bakery in Patiala.
A video of the child has gone viral on social media. It shows the child cutting the cake with a very happy heart. But he didn’t realize that he would die just a few hours after eating this cake.
The child cuts the cake around 7 pm and eats it with family members. Then he fell ill around 10 pm, said his grandfather Harban Lal.
Manvi and her sister started vomiting first. Manvi then repeatedly asks for water and complains of extreme thirst. He also reported that his mouth was dry. He fell asleep at night feeling nauseous and unwell.
But in the morning his condition worsened. The child was then rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, he was given oxygen and an electrocardiogram was performed. But the doctors could not save him.
The child’s family claimed that the chocolate cake brought from a bakery called ‘Cake Kanha’ contained poison.
The child’s family filed an FIR against the owner of the bakery. Besides, a sample of the cake has been sent to the lab for testing.
