Shah Rukh Khan is back with a bang. His latest film Jawan, directed by Atlee, has become a massive hit at the box office, breaking several records along the way. The action thriller, which also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani, has crossed the Rs 300 crore mark in India in just five days of its release.
Jawan, which released on September 8, 2023, opened to a staggering Rs 95 crore on its first day, making it the biggest opener of Bollywood ever. The film continued its strong run over the weekend, earning Rs 81 crore on Sunday alone, which is the highest single-day collection for any Hindi film till date. The previous record holder was SRK’s own Pathaan, which collected Rs 70.50 crore on its second day.
The film also received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, who praised SRK’s performance as a RAW agent who goes rogue after being betrayed by his own team. The film also features some high-octane action sequences and stunning visuals, along with a gripping plot and a surprise twist at the end.
Jawan has also performed exceptionally well in overseas markets, becoming the fastest Bollywood film to cross the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide. As of Sunday, the film had collected approximately Rs 530 crore globally, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film also marks the debut of South Indian stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in Bollywood. Nayanthara plays SRK’s love interest, while Vijay Sethupathi plays the main antagonist, a ruthless arms dealer. Both actors have impressed the viewers with their acting skills and screen presence.
Jawan is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Yash Raj Films. The film also has a cameo appearance by Salman Khan, who plays SRK’s friend and mentor in the film. The film also has a special song featuring Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone.
Jawan is expected to continue its winning streak at the box office in the coming days, as it faces no major competition from any other release. The film has already become the third highest grossing Bollywood film of 2023, after Pathaan and Dunki. Jawan is also likely to break more records and emerge as one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.
