Mohammad Saifuddin was a strong contender in the Bangladesh T20 World Cup squad. BCB even sent the squad list to ICC keeping him in it. But the BCB dropped him at the last minute after not getting the desired performance from him in the Zimbabwe series. Meanwhile, Mohammad Saifuddin’s squad was announced today (Saturday) by Bangladesh. But this pace all-rounder has withdrawn his name from there due to personal reasons.
BCB chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain confirmed the matter, ‘Mohammad Saifuddin was with our Tigers team. We have given special instruction to 6 of them, that those players should be kept in white ball training. Others will do physical as well as red ball training.
He also said, ‘Unfortunately at this moment we received an email. Saifuddin also called, saying that he could not stay in this camp due to family reasons. His wife is sick and pregnant. That’s why he will not be able to join our camp till June 10, he has asked for leave. That’s why we will try to keep Khaled Ahmed ready along with him.
Earlier today (Saturday) BCB announced the 21-member Tigers squad in a statement. The preparation camp of the Bengal Tigers team will start tomorrow (Sunday) from 9 am. Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium where practice and plans will be arranged with them. That team includes cricketers like Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and experienced Mushfiqur Rahim, and Mominul Haque.
The national team selection committee has chosen this squad. Where there is a balance between youngsters and experienced cricketers. Later, camps will be conducted with this team at multiple venues in Sylhet and Chattogram. In this camp, emphasis will be placed on the cricketer’s technique and keeping the mindset right in various situations. Apart from this, they are scheduled to play a match against BCB’s HP team.
