Police have unveiled the mystery of the murder of a woman named Nurjahan Begum (57) in Noakhali’s Subarnachar upazila. Humayun Kabir, son of the deceased, has been arrested in the incident.
Charjabbar Police Station OC Shahed Uddin confirmed the matter on Wednesday night.
He said Nurjahan’s son was brought to the police station for questioning. Later, his son Humayun Kabir became a plaintiff and filed a case against the unidentified persons at Charjabbar police station. He was released. However, in the interest of investigation, the police kept an eye on him.
After all came out in the police investigation, the police arrested some members of the family including the plaintiff in the case and revealed the secret of this brutal murder. The woman was cut into five pieces and killed. Police have recovered five parts of the woman’s body.
Superintendent of Police Alamgir Hossain will give a press briefing at the district police superintendent’s office in the presence of Chittagong police range DIG Anwar Hossain at 11am on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Nurjahan Begum, wife of late Abdul Barek of Ward 1 of Charjabbar Union under the upazila. She is the mother of 9 children including eight sons and one daughter.
Earlier, son Humayun Kabir said his mother had been missing since Wednesday morning. Later in the afternoon, a local woman came to the paddy field to look for snails and found a piece of dead body. He later went to the spot and identified his mother’s body.
