The excitement of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) started in Bangladesh. Officially, the governing council of BPL announced the details of the organization in the media today on Monday. There, the number of matches for this season, the venue, and the remuneration of the players, all of which have been informed. However, the BPL is still not at the level of IPL, PSL, or Big Bash League. Speaking about this, BPL Governing Council Secretary Ismail Haider Mallick said, they want to make BPL the best familiar tournament.
The BPL Governing Council has already announced the names of 7 franchises on Sunday ahead of this year’s season of BPL. A day later, Mallick told the media on Monday that organizing BPL like Indian Premier League (IPL), and Pakistan Super League (PSL) is very expensive.
Mallick said, ‘Because it is a matter of high costs. Then each franchise has to be sold for a lot of money. We have to move to another model. Can’t go home and away so far. Our venue is not ready. We want to make one of the best domestic tournaments.
Mallick also added, ‘But then there were not so many tournaments. We left that place in good condition. Now there are many good tournaments in the world. CPL, PSL, Big Bash League, UAE Pro League, and South Africa are doing it, Srilanka will do it next. It’s hard to compare. We want to have one of the best tournaments in our country. It will be difficult for us to do exactly like IPL or PSL at the moment.
This year’s BPL will be played on January 6 next year (2023). The curtain of the tournament will come down on February 16.
