A video of Natore’s Baraigram Firoza Begum (80) trying to torture an old woman with a hammer has gone viral. The video went viral on social media Facebook on Tuesday (July 05).
The one-minute, one-second video shows son Abul Hossain, 49, trying to hit his mother with a hammer and swearing-in vulgar language.

Rokeya Begum, daughter of the old woman, said that Abul Hossain used to beat her mother at different times. Upset over the incident, the mother recently filed a case against him in the Natore court. The court acquitted Abul Hossain, directing him to maintain good relations with his mother and provide for her. He took his mother to his house two weeks ago as per the court order. But after being taken home, the torture started again. He beat his mother with a hammer, tried to kill her by cutting her throat with a knife and tried to remove her nails with pliers.
Defendant Abul Hossain said, “I did not torture my mother. All the brothers and sisters except me have registered the land from my mother. They caused all the incidents with the mother. As your picture shows in the video, he has remained silent on the question.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Baraigram Police Station Abu Siddique confirmed the incident and said that Abul Hossain was arrested and brought to the police station after the video came to the notice of the police. His mother later denied the allegations and applied for release. At the same time, local Baraigram mayor Majeedul Bari Nayan took charge and he was released on bond.
He added that Abul Hossain is somewhat mentally unbalanced.
